Minister of tourism announces exceptional measures to help tourism sector

During a press conference held on Monday June 29th 2015, Minister of Tourism Salma Elloumi Rekik, announced a series of exceptional measures in favor of the sector of tourism. These measures aiming at helping the tourism sector to overcome the crisis further to the hotel attack in Sousse.

The measures announces by the minister notable englobe :

  • The postponement of loans refund for 2015 and 2016 with a reprogramming according to the capacity of the institution to be paid.
  • The granting of new exceptional credits refundable over 7 years, among which 2 years grace period with the state guarantee of loan refund. The loans are granted to finance the activities of every tourist institution. 
  • The reduction the VAT rate from 12% to 8%.
  • The rescheduling of the fiscal claims of tourist institutions.
  • The rescheduling of the tourist institutions’ debts with STEG (Electricity and gas) and SONEDE (water supply).
  • The cancellation of the excise stamp compulsory for all foreigners at their departure from the Tunisian territory (30 dinars payable at the exit of the territory).
  • 30% reduction on transport rates (air and maritime) for Tunisians residing abroad.
  • State coverage of Social Security fees on the part of tourist institutions to help maintain their employees in service.
  • The granting of an automatic entry visa to the Tunisian territory for the following countries nationals: China, India, Iran and Jordan.
  • The granting of a one-year multi entry visa to the Tunisian territory to businessmen, investors of the above mentioned countries.
  • The cancellation of the entry visa on the Tunisian territory for nationals of Angola, Burkina Faso, Botswana, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Cyprus.
